MARKETING OF WOOL
POST-WAR POLICY
POOL PROPOSED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 17. The findings of the special committee of the Farmers’ Federation set up to consider the post-war marketing of wool were presented at the annual meeting yesterday. The committee consisted of three representatives each of the Farmers’ Union, and Sheepowners Federation, assisted by the Wool Council and Farmers' Union.
The special committee recommended, among other things, that an endeavour should be made to achieve long term stabilisation of wool prices and that the means to be adopted be by an international produce controlled pool on the lines of Bawra. The committee recommended, too, (hat in the event Of a wool conference being called by a' Federal Minister, New" Zealand should he represented. It considered that in view of the_ constantly changing economic conditions and the competition of synthetic fibres no attempt at an arbitrary fixation of values should be made.
