Shanks estate, due to commence lambing on duly 20. Southdown rams, were slower to sell at 10s.

The hogget market was strong and there was an upward tendency, particularly in the female section. A pen of 10S welllrrown woolly ewe hoggets sold to spirited bidding at 24s Bd, while 25 other gpod sorts reached 23s Id. Medium ewe hoggets sold at lSs 8d for 52 woolly and 19s 2d for Kfi. The highest wether hogget price for some time was received for 40 well-grown sorts: at 20s 2d. The other wether hoggets on offer were only in small pens, medium reachin?.: 10s, and forward Southdowns at 15s Id. The only pen of wethers offered in tinstore section was one of 28 of good siv.e from the W. \V. Shanks estate. These sold at 28s Id. Strong Mutton Section The market of fat sheep was strong and values improved on last week’s reduced rates. The yarding was a fairly full one. A feature of the offering was a line of 20 big, well-finished wethers from Mr. Duncan Campbell, six of them selling at 29s 2d, and the remainder at 29s Id, these being the highest wether prices of the year. Among the ewes was a line from the W. \V. Shanks estate, Manutuke, these selling ns follows:Fifteen at 19s 10U, 23 at I.Bs 2d, 9 at 17s, 14 at 16s 6d, 15 at 16s 2d. 17 at 15s, and 0 at 14s fid. One pen of big ewes was passed in at 20s 3d. while other pens sold for Ifis 9d to 19s. Three Southdown ewes brought 20s, and 11 Southdown hoggets 21s. The beef entry comprised only four unattractive Jersey cows. Small Pig Enfry The entry of pigs wps small. The market was firm at the following quotations: -Sow in pig, i*.‘ ss: good wean era. 10s; slips, 225; stores, 30s.
