USE OF UNIFORM
MANY MASQUERADERS
“There is too much of this masquerading in uniforms by people who are not entitled to wear them,” said Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., in Auckland, when sentencing Arthur Bruce Hunter, aged 20, for unlawfully being in possession of and wearing a battledress. The offence was admitted by accused, who said that others were doing the same thing and. he was going round with a lot of his friends. Sub-Inspector Joyce said accused was discharged from the army in September as incorrigible. The magistrate said that many privileges meant for soldiers were being usurped by people who wore not genuine. The court regarded the offence as getting something by a false pretence. Persons who did that were going to be treated as ordinary criminals. Accused was remanded in custody for sentence.
