Election Candidates
Sir, —“Puzzled" lias cleverly tried to sow dissension among supporters of ilie Labour Party in Gisborne b'y questioning the method of selecting the official candidate. He does not Seem to understand the difference between the two parties. The National Party clings to fjic old-fashioned idea of electing a “member for the district” wjio Would serve the people by whom he was elected and be answerable to them every three years. The Labour Party is not interested in the people of the district but seeks only to use them as a means of securing another vote in Parliament for its class legislation. It will be seen, therefore, that the selection of the official Labour candidate is of no consequence locally since supporters of the party are not expected to vote for the candidate but for the party. It is not a matter for the electors at all but a point to be decided by those wh.o control the party in. Wellington. If they are satisfied with their candidate'the question of local interest does not come. into the matter at all, and one name is as good' as another-, on the ballot, paper. CRYSTAL CLEAR.
