Man-Power Shortage?

Sir, —It makes me sick to see such strapping fellows who, to my idea, are too scared lo go and fight for their country, and are using the apron strings of the present Government to help them stay behind in New Zealand. I went looking for a job and every time I asked about a position was met with the same answer. “Sorry, we are over-staffed.” I thought the country Was 'drained of our manpower, at least that is what I was told in Egypt. To think that such things as 1 appeal boards must conic and save chaps from doing their share! When conscription came in’brie would think it meant'calling up every one, bu't once again a big mistake. However, T must admit that had l been a business man then perhaps I might have been spared these last 3i years in Greece, Crete and Libya. Why should the business man be kept at home? I reckon he has more to fight for than a labourer. RETURNED SOLDIER.
