CLOSING OF ROLLS

Advice has been received by the registrar of electors, Mr. E. G. Rhodes, that the general rolls to be used at the forthcoming general election will close on Monday next, July 12. This means that electors have only tw.o or three days left in which to secure enrolment on the main roll. After- it has closed preparations will then be made for the printing of it and a supplementary roll will be opened. There will thus be a final opportunity fop electors to secure enrolment, but since the supplementary roll is generally closed at short notice after the date of the election, has been fixed, electors are urged 1o waste no time in ensuring that their names are included.

A meeting of the electors’ commitlees for the Raglan electorate decided to select Mr. R. "J. Glasgow,' : of Qnewhero, as the National Party’s candidate for the Raglan scat at the next election. Mr. Glasgow is a director of the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company. Limited, and for many' years he has taken an active part in local body work. Mr E. J. Kirk has been selected t.o contest the Wanganui seat at the forthcoming elections as the National Party ’ candidate. Mr Kirk 'is well known in Wanganhi and district, where he has been engaged as an apiarist for some j'ears. He started his career as a reporter cn the “Hawera Star”'and was also engaged in journalistic work in Canterbury for some time before he joined the staff of the Wanganui “Chronicle,” where he was sub-editor for 11 years, relinquishing that post to devote the whole of his attention to beekeeping.
