(P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 8. In a statement concerning the amended timber emergency regulations. the Minister of Supply, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, said the amendment was designed to simplify and expedite the procedure in connection with the sale and purcho.se of timber on private and native lands and gave the timber controller power to require a landowner to give access over his land for tlie removal of timber or to require the owner of a tramway to transport timber' materials other than his own, over iris tramline.

The 1 Minister ' said that there had been cases during the past few years where a deadlock had arisen between Hie buyer and the seller to the detriment of the war effort in Hie matter of timber supplies and the amendment would give the timber controller power in such cases to ensure tiiat the timber involved was milled or transported, as ihe case might be.
