Mr. A. O. Edwards is representing the Wairoa brunch of the New Zealand Educational Institute at the annual conference which is being held in Christchurch this week.—lncluded in the list of those mentioned in despatches appears the name of Private James R. Lancaster, son of Mrs. I. Lancaster, ■ North Clyde, Wairoa. —Master ,1. Prebble, Wellington College, and Master I). Osmond, St. Patrick’s College, Silverstrcam. are spending their term holidays with their parents in Wairoa. —Mrs. H. A. Findlay, Wairoa, is visiting Christchurch.—Mesdames McEwiu and Corbett have returned to Gisborne after spending a holiday with Mrs. R. S. Corbett, Wairoa.
Prior to leaving Kopuawhara, where she had been infant mistress for some time, for Piripaua, Miss Jeon Deighton was met by the residents and pupils and made the recipient of a number of presentations. During her stay at Kopuawhara Miss Deighton proved'a very capable and popular teacher and her departure is keenly regretted, particularly in view of the fact of her additional musical capabilities.
