STORTFORD LODGE SALE STORE LAMBS AND EWES (S.R.) HASTINGS, May G. In the face of a large yarding, values for lambs and ewes were lower at . the Stortford Lodge stock sale yesterday, the wethers remaining unchanged. The sale, however, was ah improvement on the dull market at Waipukurau the previous day. The Stortford Lodge yarding yesterday consisted of 6000, a feature being some lines of first-class breeding ewes offered on account of the shortage of feed. Very forward wethers made from 24s Gd to 25s 6d, good store two-tooths, ex Nuhaka, 22s 10d, and late-shorn and small 18s 2d. Good class medium-grown woolly ewe lambs made 18s 2d, others, smaller, being well in buyers’ favour ( from 13s to 15s. wellgrown and early shorn making 18s 3d. Woolly wether lambs from 11s 3d to 11s Sd were over 2s a head cheaper. Extra good four and five-year ewes made 19s, six-tooths 19s 4d, and the four-tooths 23s Id- These were high-grade ewes and the selling was well in the buyer's favour. Good-class six-year ewes, splendidly mouthed, made 16s Id. Mixed aged light-wooled brought 14s Gd, and store ewes for fattening realised 7s 4d. On account of Mr. H. Symes, Nuhaka, 268 well-framed wethers, mostly two-tooths, midseason shorn, sold at 22s lOd for 150, the remainder making 22s 9d. Quality beef met with a strong sale, when extra good A.A. heifers sold from £lO 18s Gd to £l2 16s, and light down to £7 18s 6d. The yarding of 340 head was mixed in quality. The ox beef comprised a few odd single entries, which sold to £l2 Is. Finished cows ranged from £8 13s 6d to £lO Is, medium £7 18s 6d to £8 6s, and light £7 16s down to £6 Gs.
