AUSTRALIA’S WAR BILL

OVER BUDGET ESTIMATE (9 a.m.) CANBERRA, May 12. At the present rate of war expenditure Australia’s Budget estimate for the year will probably be exceeded by more than £100,000.000. The Treasury announced that Australia’s war expenditure for the 10 months ended April 30 was £451,445,000. This represents more than £11,000,000 a week. The total is already £11.445,000 more than the Budget estimate of £440,000,000 for the financial year. Of the money alreadv spent, £359,484,000 came from loan "funds and £91,961,000 from revenue.
