DEATH OF MR. P.AIKEA

LOSS TO GOVERNMENT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 8. The following message has been received by the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, from the private secretary 46 the King: “The 1 King rtiuch regrets to hear ’ of the death of the Horn P. K. Paikea and will bo glad If you will express his sympathy with the Prime Minister and Government in their loss.” The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, has' received a message from Mr. H. Tai Mitchell, of Rotorua, expressing his and the Arawa’s regret at the loss of “an earnest, enthusiastic and sober-minded rahgitira.” Many other messages of sympathy have also been received.
