NOTED BOXER SHOT
TRAGEDY AT HOME SERVICE IN THE ARMY (11.30 a.m.) CAPETOWN, Sept. 28. Ben Foord. the former English and Empire heavyweight boxing champion, was found shot dead at his home at Auckland Park, Johannesburg, where he was visiting his wife while on week-end leave. Foord served throughout the Abyssinian campaign and also in Egypt, after which he was invalided to the Union with a knee injury. Foord was recently ‘attached to the Youth Training Brigade as a boxing instructor.
