SUNKEN SHIP’S COMPANY RESCUE BY DESTROYER (9 a.m.) CAPETOWN, Sept.*2B. The Capetown correspondent of the Daily Express says that survivors from a torpedoed merchantman described how a destroyer rescued the full complement of 240 members of the crew and passengers in eight minutes. The merchantman was hit at 3 a.m. Ten lifeboats were launched in the darkness. The destroyer at first circled, dropping depth charges, and then nosed among the lifeboats and hoisted everyone aboard.
