EXCITING FINISH

BASKETBALL TOURNEY There was a most exciting finish to the Bowie Cup basketball tournament played on the Park Domain courts on Saturday afternoon, when St. Mary’s A 1 met High School Old Girls A 1 in the final match, and drew 20—all. At first 11.5.0. G. seemed to walk away from St. Mary’s by scoring several goals before their opponents opened their tally. At half-time the position seemed to be brighter for St, Mary’s, the score being I t—lo. In the second half H.S.O.G. appeared to tire and St. Mary’s gradually crept up to equalise. From then on the game was most exciting, as one team would score and then the other would, putting both sides on equal terms again. Erratic shooting by the H.S.O.G. goalies in the final few minutes dampened their chances, as the St. Mary’s goalies made sure of every opportunity and did not miss a single shot. Tiie results of the games played were as follows: — First Bound.—H.S.O.G. A 1 10, Rata 4; St. Mary’s A 5, Tuls A 1 2; Public Service ‘B 4, High School B 3; Nurses B2 0. H.S.O.G.
