TRANSPORT CONTROL

DISTRICT COMMITTEES ' VERY WIDE POWERS Goods transport control committees have been appointed for Gisborne and the district with jurisdiction over all goods transport and with very wide powers in organising transport to effect the greatest saving m rubber and petrol. , , The first meeting of the Gisborne Goods Transport Control Committee, operating within a six-mile radius of the Gisborne Post Office, was held' yesterday, when it was agreed that carriers in the area should be asked to carry on as at present in the meantime. Members of the committee, as appointed by the Minister of Transport, are Messrs. R. G. Clare, J. W. Fergie, J. E. Benson, C. B. Pollard, J. B Shipp, J. A. Jukes, E. G. Jury, and F. Tolerton. All were present at yesterday’s meeting, except Mr. Tolerton, for whom Mr. J. A. Booth deputlSMembers of the Poverty Bay committee for the Uawa and part of Cook arid Waikohu Counties have been appointed as follows:— Messrs. J. W. Fergie, J. O. Musgrave, F. D. McIntosh, A. J. Stock,:A. H. Monk. C. W. Smith, F. Toler tom and J. E. Benson. The Ruatoria committee lor tne control of goods transport in tne Matakaoa and Waiapu areas comprises:—Messrs. V. G. J H. Rickard, Mitford-Burgess, J. Ridded., n. Evans, H. Goldsmith, F. Tolerton, and A. J. H. Kirkham.
