Primary Teachers in Forces
Slightly over 50 per cent of the Dominion’s primary school male teachers are serving with the armed forces, according to a statistical table published in National Education by the N.Z.E.I. Male teachers and trainees are returned as numbering 3833, and of these 2032 are serving with the armed forces, which is equivalent to 53 per cent. Hawke’s Bay has the highest percentage of all the educational districts, one of 65.9 per cent, while Wellington’s percentage is 55. i
