TOKOMARU BAY NEWS

Mr. A. S. Richards has joined the staff of ihe Tokomaru Bay Post Office in place of Mr. R. Moess, who has left the district.— Private W. L. Horton and Mrs. Horton, who last week were visiting relatives and friends on the Coast, have returned to Gisborne. Miss P. Pepper left Tokomaru Bay or. Wednesday for Gisborne, en route to Hamilton. where her marriage to Lieutenant W. Sutherland takes place on August 22. Prior to her departure from the Bay Miss Pepper was met by the staff of Oates Bros., ol whom she was a valuable member for several years—and presented with a set ol beautiful porcelain basins. Mr. Oates also handed Miss Pepper a substantial cheuue. Mr. Fred Ransley, who met with a serious accident on Beach road several weeks ago and who ever since has been an inmate of To Puia Hospital, has returned to his home and is improving slowly. The funeral of Mrs. Ellen McMillan took place at the Tokomaru Bay cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. Mr. Nummy officiating at the graveside. The large number of people present and the beautiful floral emblems testified to the high esteem in which Mrs. McMillan was held. Left to mourn their loss are her daughter, Mrs. W. Nevin, and Mr. Don McMillan, jun., Hautanoa, and three grandchildren, Miss Mary .Nevin and Jack and Donnie McMillan.
