FARMER’S BODY FOUND

(P.A.) WHANGAREI, this day. A week ago Mr. Edward Hawken, a well-known farmer of Maungatapere, disappeared. An intense search was made every clay by the settlers and the Home Guard until yesterday, when the foody was found alongside a stone wall on the deceased’s farm. There was a wound in the throat, and a butcher’s knife was alongside. Both feet were tied to a tree. Mr. Hawken had been in ill' health for some time.
