When Clifford Douglas Keane,, aged 27 years, after being sentenced in the Supreme Court made ■ a dash for liberty it was stated-that The police enlisted the service of a passing taxi-driver who glimpsed Keane. After the search,in the taxi had been abandoned.' the dfiver- was proceeding down' Anzac Avenue when he saw Keane entering r; a motor car. The taxi-driver infoinied the car driver that he had an escaped prisoner in the car and advised driving to the police station. 0 It is understood that" Keane had. rushed into businesss premises stating: -“l’ve had a motor accident* and: am sufferig from concussion. Can someone drive me to hospital?” One of the firm’s travellers entered at: that moment and readily agreed -to drive him to hospital,-‘ but- when warned he drove to'the police-station, a friend in the back seat preventing Keane from leaving the- car/- /
