The commissioner, Mr. Wood, although who earlier had said that the Royal Canadian Police had not met with armed resistance in delivering cad ' a P notices in Quebec or elsewhere latei acknowledged two shooting incidents, one of which occurred 10 days ago m the Gatineau area where a shot was fired at a car containing constables who were attempting to serve a notice. The shot struck the car but it is not known whether it was firen deliberately. The second incident occurred between Montreal and Quebec under similar circumstances when a snot was fired at an automobile similar to the one .the police used. The Minister of Justice, Mr. St. Laurent, confirmed that the police did not meet armed resistance in en.orcing the crll-up regulations but said that there were two incidents which may have been connected with them. The Premier of Quebec, Mr. Godbout, said the story of armed resistance was false and apparently malicious. He declared that the ieport was likely to create disunion and raise people in the other provinces against the people of Quebec.
