SOLOMON ISLANDS AUSTRALIANS’ AID STRONG RESISTANCE (By Telegraph—Press Assn. — Cnn/riirht.) (2 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 3. A Navy Department communique slates: “Offensive operations are continuing against the Japanese forces in the Solomons. Considerable enemy resistance has bcc-n encountered. It is still too early to announce the results or to estimate either our own or the enemy losses. Australian units are participating with our forces.”
