RED CROSS SUPPLIES
CAPTIVES IN FAR EAST AMERICAN "AND BRITISH (9.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 9 The American Red Cross Society has chartered the Swedish motor ship Kanangoora at San Francisco tc carry food, clothing and medical supplies to American and other United Nations’ war prisoners in the' Far East. However, the vessel will no’ sail until Japan grants her safe conduct which the’Red Cross is now seeking. The Canadian Red Cross Society is co-operating in the mission by providing supplies for British, Canadian and Indian prisoners, particularly those in Hong Kong.
