WASTAGE DENIED

AUSTRALIAN ARMY FOOD (9 a.m.) CANBERRA. July 4. Excessive food wastage in army camps has been denied by the Minister for the Army, Mr. F. M. Forde ; following investigations by army officials. “It is impossible to eliminate all wastage,” said Mr. Forde, “bu.t relatively this wastage is not greater than that in restaurants or even in private homes.” The Minister claimed that few troops in the world received better food than the Australians. To bring appetising meals to the troops in front-line areas more .than 40 mobile kitchens were now operating and eventually it was planned to have 900.
