STERN ACTION URGED

RECALCITRANT MINERS STOPPAGES IN N.S.W. (10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 4. Stoppages in the coal indfistry in New South Wales were further condemned last night by the Federal Leader of the Opposition, Mr. A. W. Fadden, who complained that the public’s patience was becoming exhausted because of the Government’s failure to take stern action against the miners. He said the Government’s kid glove methods had failed dismally to meet the position. The time had come to cease pandering to a recalcitrant element and adopt the measures rendered necessary by war-time exigencies. The Government already had the requisite powers, which must be implemented without further ado.
