SHIPS’ RADIO CALLS AID TO AXIS RAIDERS (9.30 a.m.) MADRID, July 1. The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has published a communique denying American reports that Spanish ships wirelessed other ships requesting the re-transmission of messages, thereby enabling Axis warships to locate and attack the re-transmitt-ing ship. The communique describes the. reports as false and ill-intentioned. Spanish ships, it stated, were ordered not to. use their wireless except for emergency aid calls.
