HOME GUARD SOCKS

REGULAR ISSUE URGED (P.R.) WELLINGTON, this day. A request that each Home Guardsman should receive at least a pair of socks each half-year was contained in a notice of a question givn by Mr. W. M. C. Denham (Lab., Invercargill) to the Minister of Defence in the House of Representatives last night. He said that the. marching and manoeuvres necessary in training Home Guardsmen involved severe wear and tear ori their socks, to purchase which coupons had to be used.
