INCREASE IN PRICE
CHARGE FOR CEMENT 7,/- A TON APPROVED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, this day. An increase of 7s a ton in the price of cement was. announced by , the chairman of, Wilson’s Portland Cement Company, Mr. George Winstone, at the anntial meeting of shareholders. Hb , said the increase , had Been authorised by the Price Tribunal and would take effect to-morrow. “While this is considerably less than we asked and expected, it Will Materially help our financial pbsiti’ofi,” said Mr. Winstone, He added that cement prices were fixed in 1936 and 1937 and, despite the increased ebsts, rib relief had since Bebn graiited. The. price of ordiriary cerribnt to the cbnSUmer; including sales tax and deducting the discount, would now be £5 Ss 9d a ton. Compared with £4 18s 9d rbcently. Spb'clal cernerit prices would also be raisbd 7s a ton.
