The Appropriations Committee of the House of Representatives approved and , sent to the House the £437,500,000 Appropriations Bill for 19 war agencies with a warnirig that the United States, must be prepared for 15 additional rationing programmes within a year. The committee reduced the Price Administration appropriation ~ from £40,250,000 to £23,750,000. . It was also disclosed that the United States wiil operate betivebn 2200 and 2600 merchant Ships by the end of 1942.
