WORK OF W.A.A.F.
DEFENCE OF BRITAIN ANNIVERSARY TRIBUTE (1.30 p.m.) LONDON, June 28. The Women’s Auxiliary Air Force, at a parade on its third anniversary, was congratulated by the commander-in-chief of the Fighter Command, Sir Sholto Douglas. He said: “Without your help the accurate work on which the air defence ' of this country and the safety of the pilots on operations depend could not be secured. You-are replacing men in heavy and highly skilled work, releasing them for more active jobs for which they could not otherwise be spared.”
