BRITISH CALL-UP

MUNITION WORKERS SERVICE IN FORCES (British Official Wireless.) (2 p.m.) RUGBY, June 28. The call-up of thousands of young men from the munitions industiy was announced bv the Minister of Labour, Mr. Ernest Bevin at Liverpool. He said the call-up must begin very soon and employers must progressively shape their organisation to meet the postion. There should be more grading up of older men and more women and part-time workers should be employed in vital industries. The 1 Minister' said in the cotton industry there were 5000 key women operatives who had been absorbed in other industries in order to maintain output. Substitute labour would be found for them in the industircs from which they would be taken.
