TALKS IN CHUNGKING ANGLO-U.S. GENERALS FAR EAST STRATEGY (Reed. Dec. 27, 10 a.m.) CHUNGKING, Dec. 26. A British Embassy communique fates that General Sir Archibald Vavell, Commander-in-Chief in India, visited Chungking this week and, with fajor-General Brett, chief of staff of ‘;he United States Army Air Corps, had talks with General Chiang KaiShek on the question of strategy in 'he Far East, Genera] Wavell has now returned ‘.o India. He arrived on December 22 and spent three days in discussions in A'hich the Chinese War Minister, heads of the Anglo-American military nissions and several officers of the Chinese High Command also partici’?.ted.
Every aspect of the Far East campaign was considered, resulting in -omplete harmony of views being reached. A Chinese Government communique aid that General Wavell and MajorGeneral Brett discussed with Genera Ihiang Kai-Shek problems concerning ioint war action by the democratic countries. A military council was meated at Chungking. The United States, Britain and China have formed an Allied Far East War Council.
