CUT OF 25 PER CENT
RAILWAY ROAD SERVICES SAVING OF PETROL (Per Preaa Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The mileage run by the railway road services will be reduced by onequarter. it is estimated, by a curtailment which comes into operation today. In consequence of the steps taken to reduce the consumption of petrol, normal services were maintained yesterday owing to the short notice given to the public, but drastic restrictions were to be imposed from the beginning of the schedule running this morning irrespective of the hours of operation. The whole of the daily service maintained by the railways road vehicles between Wellington, Wanganui and New Plymouth has been suspended, taking about 10 service cars off this run. The policy adopted has been to eliminate motor running wherever .here is a suitable rail service. The Christchureh-Dunedin railway motor service has been eliminated and limilar restrictions will operate throughout the Dominion.
