HIGHER PAY CLAIM

RAILWAY WORKERS ROAD SERVICES (Per Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A special meeting of the road service branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, held at midnight, accorded unanimous support to the claim for 6d. an hour all-round increase, with preference to the lower paid workers. The meeting considered that the national executive should meet immediately to make representations tc the Government. The national executive is to be asked to request immediately that the Govex-nment pay all members employed in the road services double time for Sunday work, as is paid to other sections of the railway service, tramway omnibus, buses and motormen.

Delegates to the Railway Unity Committee were instructed to press for an early mass meeting of all railway workers in Wellington in support of the claim.
