Suppression of Names
Because he said the public was entitled to know, Mr. Justice Callan in Auckland refused with regret the request of counsel for the suppression of the name of an 18-year-old youth who was being sentenced. “1 can see very good reasons which prompt you to make that request,” His Honour said. “It is to ’be hoped that the public generally will be charitable to t his“uhfor'turiaTs boy" but rneiiibVTs of the public are entitled to know whom they are trusting.”
