TWO YEARS ABROAD

L. H. CLIFFORD BACK After a three months’ trip from Mauritius and an absence of jUHt over two years from the Dominion, the jockey L. H. Clifford has returned, and he will remain in Hawera for an indefinite period. If his jockey’s license is granted by the Racing Conference in time, he will resume riding at the Levin meeting. Clifford went first to South Africa, where he enjoyed a successful innings. He then went to Mauritius, and in six months he rode 28 winners. War conditions caused him to seek means of returning to New Zealand, which he did by several different routes. He spent some time in Colombo and Sydney. He rode work in both cities while awaiting transport. Clifford can go to scale at 7.10.
