KINDERGARTEN’S RACE VETERINARY'S OPINION Amazement was expressed by the Sydney veterinary surgeon. V. E. H. Davis, who performed a minor operation on the racehorse Kindergarten during the New Zealand champion's visit to Australia, when he was informed by a Sydney pressman that Kindergarten had been recommissioned and nominated for the Christmas meeting at Elierslie. When the Now Zealand horse was treated for trouble which spelled the end of his Australian campaign, the surgeon advised a long rest for Kindergarten. ‘Til my opinion Kindergarten’s owner is taking a big risk racing the horse at Christmas, because ligament trouble has to be handled carefully,” said Mr. Davis in an interview. ‘‘Suggestions that he has recovered surprised me, although ho may stand a light preparation, sufficient enough to enable him to win; but later a recurrence of the ligament trouble may settle him for all time. "Good horses of his type are very scarce, and if he were mine he would be idle until such time as I was satisfied that he was sound. When he left Sydney to go to New Zealand it was intended to give him a long spell.” Mr. Davis laughted at the idea that Kindergarten’s breakdown rtvas incorrectly diagnosed. “I have done many ligament cases, and I may say that Kindergarten’s was not the worst I have seen or done; but to take risks with him is beyond by understanding.”
