HEAD-ON SMASH

FOUR IN HOSPITAL TWO FROM GISBORNE Four people were admitted to hospital as the result of a head-on motor collision near Otane on Saturday morning, two of the injured being Mr. and Mrs. F. H. G. Galvin, Gisborne. They suffered painful injuries and severe shock, but latest reports indicate that no bones were broken. The other two injured were Mrs. and Miss HefTer, Opapa, who suffered leg and arm fractures. The Gisborne residents were travelling southward, on the early stages of a holiday tour, when their car came into collision with a heavier vehicle. The effect of the impact was to thrust the small Gisborne car back its own length, and both machines were damaged extensively. Extensive superficial injuries were suffered by both Mr. and Mrs. Galvin, who are now under treatment in the Hastings Memorial Hospital.
