Lieutenant J. C. Dakin, of the King’s African Rifles, has been promoted to the rank of captain. Captain Dakin, an old boy of the Southland Boys' High .School, is a former New Zealand Rhodes Scholar. Before the war he was attached to the Colonial Service in Uganda.
