BARTER PROPOSALS
BRITAIN AND JAPAN WAR GOODS EXCLUDED (Reed. Aug. 20, 11 a.m.) SINGAPORE, Aug. 19. The Japanese-owned Herald states that a barter agreement between Britain and Japan through the Bank of England and the Yokohama Specie Bank is nearing conclusion. The agreement provides for the exchange of materials which are not used for war purposes, for instance, Australian wool, Indian cotton and Malayan products, for Japanese cement, textiles and certain foodstuffs.
