PROGRAMME REVISION
COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL SECOND HALL ENGAGED Because of the big increase in the entries for the Gisborne Competitions Society’s festival next week, the committee, which met last night, found it necessary to revise the programme a little in order to provide for the smooth working of the festival. Had the society boon assured ol such a large number of entries., h would have been possible to spread the festival over one or two extra day;, but when the entries closed i. was too late to make any amer.dmen in the dates, as tiie judges had bee. engaged for one week only. It was found that many finals woulc have lo be completed in the day 'sessions so as not to overload the night pi ogrammes, while an endeavour alsc had to he made to complete some o. the children's items during the day sc as to obviate their having to appear a night, as otherwise the day was mac!, too long fer many of the children, i was felt that as the festival proceedcc it might he necessary to rearrange some of' the classes. Owing to the large entry, the committee found it necessary to hire ;.. second hall for a number of the clause, and these would be heard in the Repertory Society's hall. It was decided to put the two mail choir items on at 7.30 p.m. on Monde) and to change the children’s chore: No. 5, to Friday evening. This ws: done because it was found that tin late shopping night was unsuitable for several members of the choir, scheduled to appear on that night.
