BANK OF N.Z. SAVED
LONDON FIRE BLITZ STAFF MAN ROOF HOSES (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day.. How the Bank of New Zealand in London was saved from destruction by a fire following an air blitz, was described by Mr. David F. Reid, who recently retired from the position of London manager and has now returned to New Zealand. Mr. Reid said that a large tank of water had been installed on the roof and Jioses put on every floor. While the buildings around were burning fiercely, members of the staff kept the fire away from the bank with these hoses, thus giving the bank prutection which was not available to other premises. He said the bank had suffered comparatively slight structural damage and was now operating in the same building
