ANGLO-AMERICAN AIMS “WORLD DOMINATION” (Reed. Aug. 16, 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 15. News received from Tokio through the Domei news agency quotes authoritative sources as saying that the British-American declaration firstly pledges Britain not to make unilateral peace with Germany; secondly, underwrites alleged Anglo-American aims for Anglo-Saxon world domination; thirdly, demonstrates Anglo-American failure to grasp the real causes underlying the European war. The Domei agency’s report adds that joint military action against Japan was one of the basic topics discussed by President Roosevelt and Mr. Churchill. The Straits Times, Singapore, criticising the Anglo-American declaration, said: “We had hoped for uncompromising reference to Japan and for a definite ‘hands-off warning. Instead we have what appears to be one more veiled offer of appeasement in the Far East and that certainly will not curb hot-head Tokio.”
