BRITAIN _AND U.S. EXTERMINATE NAZIS LEADERS’ CONFERENCES (Elec. Tel Copyright—United Press Assn.) (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 2.40 p.m. RUGBY, Aug. 15. It is reported in authoritative circles in Washington, according to reports received in London, that President Roosevelt and Mr. Winston Churchill, apart from conferring with their advisers, personally drafted a broad Anglo - American strategical programme, designed to wipe out Nazi tyranny. These sources say that the two leaders met frequently by themselves during the conference on the high seas for the purpose of co-ordinating the work of sectional meetings among the United States and British officials. On account of this, the procedure and entire scope of the commitments and the strategy underlying the declaration of common principles is known only to the two. The principles and full ramifications may not become known to all who participated at the meetings' for some time to come. It is stated that many British and American warships were present at a .secret rendezvous and that meetings were held both on the Prince of Wales and the American cruiser Augusta. Meanwhile, constant aerial and surface patrols were maintained. Defence experts in Washington forecast an increase in the impending new £1,500,000,000 Lend and Lease Bill as a result of the meeting of President Roosevelt and Mr. Churchill. The New York Times believes that the figure will be raised to between £1,750,000,000 and £2,500,000,000. Madrid newspapers give prominence to the meeting. The ABC says that •while President Roosevelt and Mr. Churchill disagree with the echoes of Geneva, Germany in the south of Russia, has begun to reply by finishing the war, thus making peace—with victory.
