FIRST U.S. SHIPMENT HOME USE HIGHER (Reed. Aug. 15, noon) WASHINGTON, Aug. 14. The Secretary of the Interior, Mr. I-I. L. Ickes, announced to the press that the first American tanker shipment of aviation gasoline will leave Los Angeles to-day for Vladivostock. Other tankers will follow shortly. Mr. Ickes said that, despite the sales curfew, the deliveries of gasoline were up 8 per cent. Therefore, more rigid steps were expected immediately. He is sending Mr. Edwin G. Pauley to London to study the oil situation in all its aspects, including rationing.
