HANSON’S POINTS WIN DEFEAT OF RAYNER (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. In an evently-contested lightweight professional boxing match at Wellington last night, Tommy Hanson, Wellington, outpointed Clarrie Rayner, Marlborough, over 12 rounds. Hanson weighed 9st. 121 b. and Rayner 9st. 7Jib. Rayner opened very confidently and had the advantage early with a good straight left to the face and a heavy upward jab. 'As they came out of the close work. Hanson scored well with both hands to the head and body in the fourth round, causing Rayner to smother up. The remaining rounds were evenly contested. Hanson improved as the contest progressed and caused Rayner to miss frequently, particularly with his right, by clever sidestepping and head weaving.
