INDIA AND BURMA BILL IN HOUSE OF LORDS (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 1.40 p.m. RUGBY, July 31 The India and Burma Postponement of Elections Bill was introduced in the House of Lords to-day, and it is understood the second reading will be taken shortly. The intention of the bill is to give power to extend beyond the normal period of five years the life of provincial legislative assemblies in India the House of Representatives in Burma for such period as may he considered necessary up to 12 months after the end' of the war. The discretionary powers of governors to dissolve a legislature at any time will remain intact.
