AWARDS TO R.A.F. MEN
DISTINGUISHED SERVICE (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, June 4, An officer of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who led a formation of aircraft which attacked a convoy of shipping near Boulogne wins the Distinguished Flying Cross in the latest list of Royal Air Force awards, which includes one bar to the Distinguished Flying Cross, seven Distinguished Flying Crosses, and two Distinguished Flying Medals. This officer, an acting-squadron leader, attacked in face of intense fire from a convoy and obtained two direct hits on the largest vessel which, it was later learnt, was sunk. u
A bar to the Distinguished Flying Cross, is awarded Flight-Lieutenant J. E. McFall, who, during the enemy advance in Libya in May, 1941, “performed splendid work in conveying vital information to various commanders.”
