BOXING CHAMPION
LOST WITH THE HOOD

Acting-Commander Edward Gregson, who was killed aboard the Hood, was regarded as the best officer Heavyweight champion the navy has seen.
Six feet five inches tall, he once boxed Primo Camera at a charity boxing tournament. Another officer lost on the Hood was Lieutenant-Commander Hugh Wyldbore-Smith, a specialist, in wireless and signals. In 1937 he married Miss Rachel Orlebar, whose grandfather, the Rev. Augustus Orlebar, was the character “little Arthur,” in ‘Tom Brown’s Schooldays."
