SHORTAGE OF BOYS
DELIVERIES OF MEAT JOURNEYMEN ENGAGED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. “It is really serious from a national point of view if fully qualified journeymen have to step into a breach like that and do boys’ work,” declared the chairman of the Armed Forces Appeal Board, Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., when a butchery firm appealed on behalf of a member of the staff called for overseas service. It was stated for the firm that journeymen were actually doing delivery because of the difficulty in getting boys. The appellant said he knew of one case where a second shopman was doing delivery work. At) adjournment for three months was granted.
