HOOD SURVIVOR
LANDING IN ICELAND SEAMAN’S MESSAGE (Reed. May 30, 9 a.m.) LONDON, May 29. Six hours after receiving the Admiralty’s telegram announcing that her 20-year-old son. Able Seaman Tobert Tilburn, of Leeds, had been lost in the Hood, his mother received her son’s telegram from Reyjavik stating: “I am safe; writing.” This is the first news of any Hood survivor.
